Thomas Hardy was one of the English poets that became notable worldwide. Hardy was born in England in the year 1840. He has created poems all of his life although it was in his mid-life when his works became notable.

Hardy actually started as a novelist. He was known to have written poems ever since he was younger but it was initially his novels that made scene to the public. Finally, in the year 1898, his first ever collection of poems was published under the name Wessex Poems. These were the poems that he had made at least 30 years from the year they were released. His first wife had suddenly lost her life in the year 1912 and poetry has been one of Hardy’s ways in expressing his grief and remorse. He was later married to a younger woman but his first wife’s influence was still very evident in his poetic language.
