Sylvia Plath

A very controversial yet well- acclaimed poet during the mid- 19th century was Sylvia Plath. Plath was praised for her work but her death in 1963 through suicide made her life controversial. Sylvia Plath was actually born in the United States but she spent a few years in England with her husband and 2 kids. Even before her controversial suicide, people already know that Sylvia Plat suffered episodes of depression throughout majority of her life as an adult.

When Sylvia was young, she already was very talented and was very interested in writing poems. In fact, one of her poems was already published when she was still at the very young age of 8 years old. Unfortunately, her dad passed away at around that age as well and it was said that she found it hard to fully cope with the loss of an important figure in her life.

Growing up, Plath had episodes of depression. But this did not hinder her from claiming a few very important awards such as a Pulitzer Prize and a Glascock Prize. She even used her personal experiences and added a twist to them in her work naming her one of the few people who revolutionized the confessional genre of poetry.
